Enhancing Your Intuition

Many people have said to me, I wish I could do what you do. After hearing this a lot, I decided to share a variety of ways to help you enhance your intuition. Any time you want to do something, you must first know what you desire, and then take action toward creating your desired outcome. You also must realize that if the method doesn’t feel right for you, you are not meant to do it. It’s all about how you feel. Perhaps the best thing about enhancing your intuition is realizing that Spirit is always by your side encouraging you to develop your natural psychic powers that you may have forgotten you have.

Before I give ideas or methods, something you must understand is that when you become intuitive, your life will never be the same again. It can be a challenge to accept messages from the Divine and from your higher self and even to hear telepathic messages from people. You might even think that you’re making it all up, but one thing that is for sure, it is real. If that’s okay with you, let’s begin.

The simplest method to increase your intuition is to sit quietly without any distractions. This is known as meditation. Create a special place to meditate, sit on the floor, on your bed, on a chair or on the ground outside. It’s always up to you. It is important to be in a place where you will not be disturbed and you feel good sitting there. If you find that your mind wanders after you close your eyes, choose one word to think of or focus on. The word could be anything like love, peace, focus, mindful, or whatever else you decide to use. Make sure that it feels right for you. If you can, think of placing the word inside of the middle of your forehead or your third eye. If you are able to, choose the same time every day to meditate. My favourite time to meditate is first thing in the morning. At this time of the day, your conscious mind is empty of thoughts or stored information. This helps information from Spirit to flow easily into your mind. I also wear a blindfold to keep light out. I feel it helps me get deeper into the state of meditation.

During your meditation time, you may experience visions, hear words or thoughts in your mind. You may even connect with someone who is currently alive residing in a human or pet body, or they may be on the Other Side. Meditation is different for everyone so if you find yourself comparing your experience with others, I hope you will understand that everyone's experience is unique although some people have had similar messages or visions. It’s definitely okay to discuss your meditation experiences with anyone who is on the same path. Keep a journal nearby to record anything interesting that happens during your quiet time or meditation. You’ll be able to remember that experience and can read about it later on. The information may be quite valuable later on and you will see why you received that information at that time in your life.

Another way to become more intuitive is to change your diet to lighter foods such plant-based foods that are closest to their original source and are not highly processed. It is amazing how light your mind feels when the food you consume is from a lighter, less dense energy and is more suited to your body as you move forward in your spiritual journey. Be aware though, not every plant will agree with your body. Use your intuition to know what your body likes. When we develop allergies to food, our bodies are telling us, please don’t feed me that food. I cannot digest it or process it easily. Some foods will make you uncomfortable so it's best to stay away from. When we inherently know and have a dislike for a certain food, it’s because your body does not want it. Pay attention to how you feel after you eat. If you feel tired, your body is telling you that it is working hard to digest that food. When you feel comfortable and energized after you eat, the food you consumed is in balance with your body at that time. It does change though so be aware of that. If you are used to eating a certain way, or are a part of family that does not like changes in their diets, introduce new plant-based meals slowly and see what happens. If not, and I have done this, prepare a different meal for those who want plant-based meals and an omnivore diet for anyone who is not on board (yet) with a plant-based diet.

Some people, and I am one of them, have fasted, drinking only water for a certain amount of days. I found that by the eight day of my water fast, my intuition, psychic insight, and connection to Source energy was the best it had ever been. It was SO CLEAR I wondered why I didn’t try a water fast before. When I thought about this, I knew I did not try it earlier because I enjoy eating and did not want to give up food. However, when you are ready, you will just do it. You can try it for one day and if that is a good experience, try one more day. Your body will always tell you if it’s comfortable with what you are doing and when it is not. Learn to listen to your body so you can create the best health you have ever had. The first time I fasted I did not commit to a strict water fast. I felt fatigued after a few days so I added lemon water in the morning and felt much better. By day ten, I knew that I was done but I felt really good about fasting for ten days. My mind was extremely clear. My skin looked amazing and I felt light and happy.

The second time I fasted drinking water only I made it to 19 days. I added a pinch of Himalayan salt to my mouth before I drank water to complete the 21 day fast. The fatigue I was feeling left immediately after consuming a bit of Himalayan salt. There is no one way to fast, or even to do it. If you do not want to try it, then don’t! One of the best things that happened during my 21 day water fast was that I gained the insight that I had an addiction to using food to soothe my emotional self. Even better, I was able to let go of that emotional craving to soothe myself with food after the fast ended. In my mind I was able to see about where the emotional need came from. That is very empowering, isn’t it?

Dr. Joel Fuhrman wrote the book, Fasting and Eating for Health. This is where I got the idea of doing a 21 day water fast. Because I am healthy, I did not require medical supervision during my water fast. If you are on any type of medication, it is advised that you seek medication supervision while you try a water fast. Dr. Fuhrman discovered that a water fast helped heal the scar tissue in his knee when he was a professional figure skater. After a 45 day supervised water fast at a clinic in San Antonio, his scar tissue disappeared. He went onto compete and win in professional figure skating. After that he went to medical school to become a doctor. Many doctors disagree with this type of healing but when your body is no longer provided food it goes into healing mode or autophagy. It has been proven by science yet some deny it helps. Autophagy is a cellular process where a cell breaks down and recycles its own damaged or abnormal components. Some say its where your body eats the damaged cells and recycles its cells into healthy ones. Dr. Fuhrman states in his book that a water fast will help heal almost any condition in the human body. The only condition it does not help with is cancer.

I added the information about autophagy so you can understand that there is physical medical evidence that supports fasting for healing. I included water fasting as a way to connect with the spiritual realm because that is when I experienced such clarity of connection. I began a water fast to help release aches and pains in my body, which it did, but was quite delighted when I experienced a deeper connection with the Divine. I experienced such a beautiful connection, I was amazed. For this very reason, it was worth the strength and perseverance it took to continue until I felt I was done. I definitely know that I will do a water fast again.

Asking for signs from the Divine and then acknowledging that they are Divine signs is another way to enhance your intuition. When you see pennies, dimes, feathers, repeated numbers or anything else that seems interesting, mystical or unusual know that the Divine is speaking to you.

Sometimes a person, a complete stranger, speaks to you with a profound message in their words, please know that you have encountered an earth angel. They appear at a time in your life when you need guidance and encouragement. After they deliver the message, they disappear. I have had this happen several times. My most memorable encounter was when I stopped in a donut shop to get a coffee and this man whose energy felt peaceful and calm was the only customer seated at a round table in the donut shop. He looked at me on my way out and said, “Have a safe trip home.” I was in a city on my way back to my home town after a terrible job interview. What a wonderful message because I knew it felt right to go home.I had been looking at books in a bookstore just before that and when I heard a song playing, "Baby, it's time to go home," I knew that message was for me.

It is my understanding that we are all created with the energy of God or the Creator. We contain this high vibration power and connection in our physical hearts. Heart surgeons know that if they ever touch a certain place in the heart during heart operation, the patient will die. One of my favourite ways to connect with my higher self and God, is to close my eyes while I am seated or laying down, place my left hand over my heart, ask to connect with my higher self, or God, and let the magic happen. You may have to try this more than once but once you feel that connection, you will be rewarded with insight, messages and even a feeling of divine love. It is amazing!

I hope these ideas have inspired you to devote some time to any of the above actions. Being spiritually inclined and intuitive is our natural state of being. When we are young, we are pure and filled with delight. Later on, we become enmeshed with our physical existence, and often forget we are divine ourselves. We are able to regain that wonder and delight with a focus on our spiritual selves. By doing this, we attract like-minded people who come from a place of love and light.
